Earlier today, Verizon’s DroidLanding Twitter account announced a new contest involving a 4-minute teaser video that asked contestants to "finish the story” for a chance to win several prizes. That’s not the big news here, though.
The teaser video associated with the contest follows the story of a man attempting to deliver an important package. As you seen in the picture above, that package looks a lot like a tablet case.
Unless Verizon is just distracting us and the ‘package’ means nothing, it seems likely that Big Red is preparing to unveil a new Droid tablet. Considering Motorola is the exclusive Droid partner for Verizon, odds are this could end up being the first new Motorola tablet since the Xyboard.
We can’t say we are terribly surprised, as this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a new Motorola tablet. Speaking to Engadget recently, Motorola’s Dennis Woodside mentioned the company was working on a tablet - though he didn’t go into details.
If a Droid tablet is in the works, we can speculate that it is probably the Verizon 4G LTE version of the tablet that Woodside recently alluded to. Android blog
Adding more credence to the idea of a Droid tablet, DroidLanding even retweeted one contest entry response that could be taken as unofficial confirmation (and further teasing) of the tablet’s existence:
For now, we remind you that nothing has been confirmed one way or another, and so speculation is advised. The next chapter in this commercial campaign is expected to hit in October, where we will hopefully learn more.
Anyone interested in the idea of a Droid tablet that works seamlessly with Verizon’s 4G LTE network?
